Dieses Projekt, an das er nach elf Jahren zurückkehrt, hat offensichtlich einen besonderen Platz in seinem Herzen. Nach den Filmen „Pitch Black - Planet der Finsternis“ (2000), „Riddick: Chroniken eines Kriegers“ (2004) und „Riddick - Überleben ist seine Rache“ (2013), setzt der vierte Teil die kultige Sci-Fi-Saga fort.

Die jüngst veröffentlichten Set-Fotos zeigen übrigens Vin Diesel in der typischen „Riddick“-Montur, posierend an einer Felswand, und in einem interessanten Wüstenfahrzeug. Obwohl aktuell noch kein offizieller Starttermin für „Riddick 4: Furya“ feststeht, deutet der Beginn der Dreharbeiten, die am 26. August 2024 gestartet sind, darauf hin, dass der Film möglicherweise in der zweiten Jahreshälfte 2025 erscheinen könnte.

„Riddick 4: Furya“ bleibt plot-technisch übrigens den Wurzeln der Reihe treu und zentriert sich erneut um Richard B. Riddick, den muskulösen Antihelden, der mehr für seine Taten als für seine Worte bekannt ist. In „Riddick 4: Furya“ kehrt Riddick zu seinem Heimatplaneten zurück und macht eine überraschende Entdeckung: Er ist nicht der letzte Überlebende seiner Art.

Diese Erkenntnis führt zu unerwarteten Allianzen, da seine Artgenossen ihm in vielerlei Hinsicht ähnlicher sind, als er es je für möglich gehalten hätte. Zusammen stehen sie vor der Herausforderung, sich einem neuen und mächtigen Feind zu stellen. In bewährter Manier übernimmt David Twohy, bekannt für seine Arbeit an den vorherigen „Riddick“-Filmen sowie „Below - Da unten hört dich niemand schreien“, die Regie und das Drehbuch des neuen Kapitels.

Wer genau neben Vin Diesel zu sehen sein wird, bleibt derzeit noch offen. Man kann also gespannt sein, ob „Riddick 4: Furya“ am Ende wirklich eine Rückkehr zu den Ursprüngen der beliebten Sci-Fi-Reihe ist und ob das neue Kapitel in der epischen Geschichte von Richard B. Riddick gelingt.
