Lange war es nur ein Gerücht, doch jetzt ist es offiziell. Die gelbe Chaosfamilie aus Springfield wagt ein zweites Abenteuer auf der großen Leinwand. Der zweite Kinofilm „The Simpsons 2“ hat indes nicht nur grünes Licht, sondern auch schon einen Starttermin. Am 23. Juli 2027 läuft das neue Kapitel der Kultserie weltweit im Kino.

Damit feiert die Truppe um Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa und Maggie ihr Comeback in XXL. Dies genau zwanzig Jahre nach ihrem ersten Kinoausflug. Dass es so lange gedauert hat, dürfte viele Fans überraschen. Schließlich spielte der erste Film von 2007 über eine halbe Milliarde US-Dollar ein und bewies, dass die Marke auch jenseits der TV-Bildschirme funktioniert.

Noch ist völlig offen, welche Katastrophe dieses Mal auf Springfield zukommt. Aber ein erstes Poster zu „The Simpsons 2“ heizt jedoch die Vorfreude an. Ein rosa Donut, der wohl berühmteste Snack der Serie, steht im Mittelpunkt, darunter der Satz „Homer kommt zurück für eine zweite Portion“. Mehr verraten Disney und 20th Century bislang nicht.

Wer sich an den letzten Kinofilm „Die Simpsons – Der Film“ aus dem Jahre 2007 erinnert, weiß, damals ging es gleich ums Ganze. Eine Umweltkatastrophe, ausgelöst von Homers Fahrlässigkeit, führte dazu, dass Springfield unter eine gigantische Glaskuppel verfrachtet wurde. Für zusätzliche Lacher sorgte Homers ungewöhnlicher Mitbewohner, das berühmte Schweinchen Spider-Pig.

Springfield bleibt Kult – und wächst immer weiter

Die Serie „Die Simpsons“, erschaffen von Matt Groening, läuft seit Dezember 1989 und zählt mittlerweile 37 Staffeln. Verlängert ist sie bereits bis zur 40. Staffel, die zwischen 2028 und 2029 ausgestrahlt werden soll. Damit gehört die Serie längst zu den langlebigsten Produktionen der TV-Geschichte.

Springfield selbst ist über die Jahrzehnte zu einer Art Parallelwelt geworden. Neben der Familie Simpson gehören Figuren wie der schrullige Opa Abe, der immer hungrige Ralph, der Schulhof-Rüpel Nelson oder der Ladenbesitzer Apu längst zum festen Inventar. Die Mischung aus schrägem Humor, bissiger Satire und gesellschaftlichen Kommentaren machte die Serie weltweit bekannt.

Ob politische Spitzen, absurde Slapstick-Momente oder emotionale Familiengeschichten, all das darf man auch im zweiten Kinofilm „The Simpsons 2“ erwarten. Somit dürfte der Sommer 2027 für alle Simpson-Fans ein ganz besonderer werden.
