Seit mittlerweile über drei Dekaden begeistert „Masters of the Universe“ nun schon Fans weltweit. Seit den 80er Jahren prägen He-Man und Co. nicht nur die Welt der Action-Figuren aus dem Hause Mattel, sondern auch das Fernsehen, dank der Kult-TV-Serie. Der erste Spielfilm, mit Dolph Lundgren als He-Man, wurde ebenfalls schnell zum Kult-Klassiker.

Nachdem die Fans lange auf Neuigkeiten warten mussten, macht die neue „Masters of the Universe“-Verfilmung in diesem Jahr gewaltige Fortschritte. Schon über ein Jahrzehnt wird an dem Projekt gearbeitet, doch nun scheint der Film tatsächlich Gestalt anzunehmen. Mit Nicholas Galitzine, der in der Rolle des He-Man zu sehen sein wird, und Camila Mendes als Teela, scheint das Casting vielversprechend.

Alison Brie wird zur Evil-Lyn

Eine weitere Schlüsselrolle wurde nun ebenfalls besetzt. Demnach wird keine Geringere als Alison Brie in die Rolle der Evil-Lyn schlüpfen, die treue Stellvertreterin des Bösewichts Skeletor. Die Nachricht, dass Alison Brie als Evil-Lyn zu sehen sein wird, wurde von Fans und Medien gleichermaßen mit großer Begeisterung aufgenommen wurde. Bekannt für ihre vielseitigen Rollen in „GLOW“, „Community“ oder „Mad Men“, kann man von Alison Brie einiges erwarten.

Ihre letzte Rolle im Oscar-prämierten „Promising Young Woman“ zeigte einmal mehr ihr Talent für komplexe und herausfordernde Charaktere, was sie zur idealen Besetzung für die Rolle der kraftvollen Zauberin macht. Das Projekt wird von Amazon und Mattel in Zusammenarbeit mit MGM vorangetrieben, nachdem es ursprünglich unter der Schirmherrschaft von Netflix begonnen hatte.

Kino statt Streaming

Statt einer direkten Veröffentlichung auf einer Streaming-Plattform, hat man sich entschieden, den Film zunächst weltweit in den Kinos zu zeigen. Der Kinostart ist für Anfang Juni 2026 geplant.Der Regisseur des Films ist Travis Knight, der zuvor durch das „Transformers“-Spin-off „Bumblebee“ seine Fähigkeiten im Live-Action-Bereich unter Beweis gestellt hat.

Das Drehbuch stammt indes von Chris Butler, der bereits an mehreren bekannten Animationsfilmen wie „ParaNorman“ und „Kubo – Der tapfere Samurai“ mitgewirkt hat. Wenn es so weiter geht bezüglich des Casts und man dazu noch eine packende Story bekommt, könnte der neue „Masters Of The Universe“-Film ganz großes Kino-Spektakel liefern.
