Ursprünglich im Jahr 1906 in Turin gegründet und 1969 schließlich vom italienischen Automobilhersteller Fiat übernommen, ist es verdächtig still um den Autobauer Lancia geworden. Die Nobelmarke aus dem Land des Weins und der Oliven, die inzwischen dem Automobilkonzern Stellantis angehört, hatte sich bereits vor einigen Jahren aus dem internationalen Geschäft verabschiedet, doch nun scheint offenbar ein Comeback bevorzustehen.

Medienberichten zufolge steht uns noch in diesem Jahr die Vorstellung einer elektrisch angetriebenen Neuauflage des schon längst zum Kult avancierten Kleinwagens Ypsilon bevor, welcher anschließend auf den internationalen Märkten angeboten werden soll.

Nachdem es zu diversen Leaks gekommen war, hat der Autobauer inzwischen erste autorisierte Fotos freigegeben.

Den bisherigen Bildern ist zu entnehmen, dass der gut vier Meter lange Fünftürer mit einem Heck daherkommt, dessen kreisrunde mit einem liegenden Y versehene Leuchten Erinnerungen an den legendären Sportwagen Lancia Stratos wecken. Dazu spendiert der Autobauer noch eine frische Frontpartie, die mit auffälligen LED-Leisten für das Tagfahrlicht ausgestattet ist.

Einen Kühlergrill benötigt der Wagen mit Blick auf den Elektroantrieb nicht mehr – für die nötige Belüftung im Motorraum sorgt nun ein dominanter Lufteinlass in der Frontschürze. Das bekannte Markenlogo wurde an die ausgeprägten C-Säulen versetzt, Front und Heck ziert der Name Lancia.

Im Innenraum verspricht Lancia eine „technische Revolution“.

In technischer Hinsicht baut der neue Ypsilon auf bewährten Modellen der Stellantis-Gruppe auf, wie etwa dem Fiat 600e und der Opel Corsa. Unter der Haube tut ein leistungsstarker 115 kW/156 PS E-Motor seinen Dienst, angetrieben wird dieser von 54 kWh-Akkus, die eine beachtliche Reichweite von rund 400 Kilometern auf die Straße bringen sollen.

Zwar könnte man den neuen Ypsilon theoretisch auch mit einem Verbrennungsmotor ausstatten, wie Lancia jedoch ausdrücklich betonte, bestehe diese Option für die kommenden Modelle der italienischen Luxusmarke nicht. Sämtliche für 2026 und 2028 angesetzte neue Wagen sollen konsequent und ausschließlich mit einem Elektroantrieb ausgestattet sein.

Damit möchte Lancia wieder zu den europäischen Premiumanbietern aufschließen und an den Luxusglanz vergangener Tagen anknüpfen. Ob dies nach der langen Schaffenspause gelingt, wird der neue Ypsilon sicherlich bald zeigen.

Präsentiert werden soll der neue Wagen offiziell im Februar 2024.

Kuriose Anekdote am Rande: Die ersten Bilder des neuen Ypsilon wurden 2023 geleakt, und zwar ausgerechnet nachdem der Prototyp aus bislang noch unbekannten Gründen nur wenige Kilometer vom französieren Stellantis-Werk Sochaux entfernt in einem Kanal gelandet war – wie die Zeitung „L'Est Républicain“ seinerzeit berichtete, soll das Fahrzeug zuvor gestohlen worden sein.
