Amazon MGM Studios, die sich nach langem Entwicklungschaos des Projekts angenommen haben, teilten das Bild in den sozialen Medien und bestätigen damit nun auch, dass die Dreharbeiten auf Hochtouren laufen. Schon Mitte Februar 2025 kursierten erste Set-Fotos, die Galitzine als Prinz Adam mit seinem legendären Zauberschwert zeigten. Doch nun gibt es einen offiziell veröffentlichten Blick auf die Titelfigur.

Auf dem Bild ist zwar nicht Galitzines Gesicht zu sehen, doch sein trainierter Körper und das mächtige „Sword Of Power“ stechen sofort ins Auge. Wie der Schauspieler selbst in einem Interview verriet, erfordert die körperliche Transformation zur ikonischen Figur eine tägliche Kalorienzufuhr von rund 4.000 Kalorien.

Die Geschichte um He-Man und seine Welt Eternia wurde bereits in den 1980er Jahren durch die ikonische Zeichentrickserie und eine erste Realverfilmung mit Dolph Lundgren legendär. Die neue Verfilmung will zwar die Nostalgie bewahren, sich aber bewusst von der ikonischen Cartoon-Vorlage abheben. „Bumblebee“-Regisseur Travis Knight setzt dabei auf eine moderne Interpretation des Stoffes.

Im Mittelpunkt steht Prinz Adam, der als Kind auf der Erde strandet und dabei sein magisches Schwert verliert – die Verbindung zu seiner Heimat Eternia. Erst als junger Mann spürt er das Schwert wieder auf, was ihm den Weg zurück ebnet. Dort muss er sich seinem Erzfeind Skeletor stellen, der von keinem Geringeren als Jared Leto verkörpert wird.

Die Besetzung kann sich ohnehin sehen lassen. So schlüpft Camila Mendes in die Rolle von Teela, Morena Baccarin spielt ihre Mutter und Zauberin von Grayskull, Idris Elba tritt als Man-At-Arms auf, während Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson den heroischen Fisto mimt. Auch Skeletors rechte Hand Evil-Lyn ist mit Alison Brie prominent besetzt. James Purefoy und Charlotte Riley übernehmen die Rollen von Adams königlichen Eltern, Randor und Marlena.

Während „Masters Of The Universe“ unter der Regie von Travis Knight produziert wird, bringen Amazon MGM Studios, Escape Artists und Mattel Films das Projekt auf die große Leinwand. So soll „Masters Of The Universe“ am 5. Juni 2026 weltweit in den Kinos starten. Doch ähnlich wie bei Amazons weihnachtlichem Blockbuster „Red One“ mit Dwayne Johnson dürfte das eigentliche Ziel sein, einen massiven Streaming-Erfolg zu erzielen.

Die Erwartungen sind hoch, immerhin begleitet das Franchise seit Jahrzehnten eine riesige Fanbase. Ursprünglich als Spielzeugserie von Mattel gestartet, entwickelten sich die Abenteuer um He-Man und Co. schnell zum Kult. Ob die neue Adaption diesen Status weiterführen kann oder neue Wege einschlägt, bleibt abzuwarten – doch das erste offizielle Bild verspricht bereits eine imposante Umsetzung der ikonischen Figur.
